Paper cones perform quite well and can sound wonderful. Paper is a lightweight material and is able to follow the motions that are generated by the coil. Paper material is cheap, especially when making large speaker cones.

There are three common cone paper forming techniques: pressed, semi-pressed, and non-pressed cones. Non-pressed cones offer a larger surface area such that they push more air, thereby delivering louder sound. Non-pressed paper cones also have higher sensitivity such that they are more power-efficient. However, non-pressed paper will be stiffer by chemical treatment. On the other hand, pressed paper cones have a smaller surface area but boast of having fewer quality issues than non-pressed paper cones. The pulp’s fiber length, density, and “secret sauce” are factors that distinguish different speaker cones intended for subwoofers, midranges, musical instruments, and so on.

Paper is by far the dominant component in speaker cones, Sound natural and cost-effective. It is hard to beat cellulose paper for its mix of strength, lightness, stiffness, damping, and sound quality. Its parameter and acoustics performance can be adjusted by adding additive fibers or adjusting related process (such as whole dipping, tightness of forming press) to meet different requirement from customer.

Rubber surround: Raw material preparation → Material Mixing → Milling → Cutting → Vulcanization → Gluing → Baking through the oven

Foam surround: Foam forming → Foam surround gluing

Cloth surround: Cloth dipping → Cloth cutting → Cloth forming

Cone Assembly: Assembly → Reinforcement → Packing → Outgoing inspection
